If you are in California, Oregon, or Washington, you have seen first-hand the devastation wildfires have caused in recent years, wiping out wildlife and entire blocks of at-risk communities.

The climate crisis is here and those on the frontline need support to manage wildfires and retain folks who are willing to do this work. That is why as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that Future Forum Democrats helped turn into law, Congress is now authorized to appropriate $3.3 billion for wildfire risk reduction.

Republicans are on the sidelines when it comes to climate change, and with a tough midterm election coming up next year, we’re going to need your help passing bills that address this global crisis. Will you chip in today to defend our Majority and fight climate change?

So, what can Congress do with this funding? Here are just a few initiatives:

• Higher pay for wildland firefighters
• Make forests more resilient to fire and curb its damaging effects
• Develop and improve fuel breaks where fires can be stopped
• Map and defend at-risk communities
• Fund fire science research, real-time monitoring equipment and restoration treatments on federal and tribal land with a “very high” wildfire potential
