Dear NRDC Supporter,
For decades, our vegetables and fruits have been sprayed with the toxic
chemical chlorpyrifos — a little-known but widely used pesticide that
poses significant risks to pregnant women and children.
But now, after 30+ years of pressure from NRDC and other public health,
farmworker, and community advocacy groups, [ [link removed] ]the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) has announced they will BAN chlorpyrifos in food production
by early next year — a huge win for farmworkers, families, and science!

Putting an end to chlorpyrifos was a hard-won fight. "We had to have
political muscle, we had to have legal tools, and we had to have
scientific expertise," says Erik D. Olson, senior strategic director of
health and food at NRDC. "If any of the three of those were missing, we
would have lost."
And this win would not have been possible without committed, passionate
environmental advocates like you. In the last two years alone, nearly
36,000 NRDC supporters took action to demand a ban on chlorpyrifos — an
outcry that our country's leaders could no longer ignore.
With other dangerous pesticides still on the market, our fight to protect
farmworkers, families, ecosystems, and our food supply is far from over.
But this victory is a major step forward towards the safer, healthier food
system we all deserve.
