I hope this email finds you, your loved ones, and your communities safe. You’ve no doubt been tracking the Getty fire and fires across California closely, and I’m writing to you today to give an update on what my office is doing to secure federal aid for the areas that have been impacted.

Earlier this week, I sent letters to FEMA and the House Appropriations Committee urging them to provide the federal funding necessary to assist in our recovery. My team and I have been in regular contact with local officials on the ground, and together we’re working quickly to assess the damage that’s been done and provide relief where we can.

I’m incredibly grateful for the brave firefighters and first responders who are working day and night to contain this fire, and I thank FEMA for swiftly approving Governor Newsom’s Fire Management Assistance grant to support our firefighters’ efforts.
