day of action
Radford Day of Action - 14 October

*On Thursday 14th October the Nottingham City Council organised A Day of Action in the Ward, in the Derby Grove, Lenton Triangle Area. *

Community Protection, the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Ward Councillors, Fire Service, NCH and other partner organisations went knocking on doors to give out information and see how residents were feeling about living in Radford.

This opportunity was used to engage on a one to one basis with residents to make them aware of services available such as the free bulky waste, bin collection days, fire safely checks, fly-tipping penalties and more.

The team also cleaned and swept the streets and surrounding areas.

Curry in the Park fun!
radford curry event

*October saw the return of Curry In The Park on Radford Recreation Ground - a welcome return after the event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19.*

Nottingham City Council Ward Councillors together with the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and Neighbourhood Management organised this year’s event along with partners such as the Fire Service, Police and Nottingham City Homes.

We hope that events like Curry in the Park helps develop relationships between students, local services and residents and create the opportunity for future engagement.

Plus, everyone got the chance to get to know their neighbourhood Community Protection Officer, the Beat Team, local Ward Councillors, their MP, and their local community.

We had a great day sharing different types of food and learning about the different cultures and communities who call Radford their home.  The curries which were available on the day reflected the wonderful diversity of different groups in the area.

Christmas money tips

bills

*With increases in bills and the cost of living as well as taxes going up and continuing issues around the pandemic, this Christmas will be a tough one for many. *

Taking out payday or doorstep loans is a bad idea - they might seem like an easy way to get cash quickly, but you'll end up paying an arm and a leg due to sky-high interest rates.

The cheapest places to borrow money will always be a bank, building society or Notts and Lincs Credit Union  [ [link removed] ]- who may be able to help where others can't if you have a poor credit history.

Don't get caught out this Christmas

Nottingham City Council’s Trading Standards team are asking Nottingham residents to be careful when buying presents for children:

* *Look for the CE or UKCA mark:* These symbols on the label or box mean the manufacturer has assessed the toy for safety
* *Button-batteries can kill:*  Check they are screwed in firmly and safely before giving to a child
* *Check age restrictions:* Toys must be clearly marked with age restrictions - always follow them, they’re there for a reason

⚠️ Scam warning ⚠️

Warning – criminals are using the NHS Covid Pass and pretending to be the NHS [ [link removed] ] as a way to *target the public by convincing them to hand over money, financial details and personal information.*

For information on how to get your *free* NHS COVID Pass, visit www.nhs.uk/nhscovidpass [ [link removed] ].

*On scams generally - remember, if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.* These include festive getaways at very low prices and ‘easy’ ways to make money, like cryptocurrency and investments. Take a moment to check Citizens Advice’s Online Scams Helper [ [link removed] ] to protect yourself.
