Pro-Life hopes palpable as Supreme Court hears case that could overturn Roe v. Wade ()

The US supreme court this week heard oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson, the Mississippi case that challenges Roe v. Wade by arguing that abortion after 15 weeks is unconstitutional.

If the Supreme Court sides with Mississippi, it will effectively overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that legalised abortion in the United States.

While it is rare for the Supreme Court to overturn its own precedent, it has happened in the past, a famous example being the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling which ended segregation. Very close attention was paid this week to the utterances of Supreme Court justices when they spoke during the hearings. Particular note was made of Justice Brett Kavanaugh's remarks where he cited and defended previous examples in which the court overturned precedent.

It was a very historic week for members of the pro-life movement in the US who have campaigned for close to 50 years to bring about a situation where the rights of unborn babies could once again be protected. There was a huge pro-life presence outside the court on Wednesday and hope was palpable that a positive outcome in the case is possible, after such a long wait and fight for justice. Outside the court, representatives of the pro-life movement talked about how Roe v. Wade had hurt women and did nothing to empower them.

Pro-life media analyst Kathryn Jean Lopez told the gathering on the steps of the Supreme Court: "This case today, Dobbs v. Jackson is about human rights. This case today is about the dignity of women. This case today is about saving lives. This case today is about declaring that women deserve better than the misery and brutality of abortion. It is only euphemisms that keep us from realising the grave evil that is Roe v. Wade. We pray today that the court comes to its senses and does the right thing and puts an end to Roe v. Wade which is the real war on women - moms - and their children and families."

The decision in Dobbs v. Jackson will have huge ramifications for the right to life of unborn babies. The make-up of the Supreme Court has undergone enormous changes in recent years and currently sits at a 6-3 conservative majority.
UK health watchdog approves use of progesterone to prevent miscarriages, the same pill used in Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) ()

Abortion pill reversal (APR) is credited with saving thousands of babies' lives ()
UK health watchdog, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), has taken the first steps in recommending the use of progesterone in preventing miscarriages in women who have had at least one miscarriage or are experiencing bleeding during early pregnancy. It has been claimed the decision could help 8,450 more babies be carried to term each year in Britain.

Progesterone, a naturally occurring pregnancy hormone, has been prescribed by doctors in the US for many years to help prevent early miscarriages. The decision of NICE to authorise its use in Britain is significant for more than one reason. The same hormone is also used to help reverse the effects of mifepristone, the first drug taken when abortion pills are administered.

Abortion pill reversal (APR) is credited with saving thousands of babies from certain death after their mothers changed their minds and sought help to undo the effects of the abortion drugs they had taken. Pro-abortion groups rail against APR even though they claim to support ‘choice’.

The latest decision by NICE will help prompt renewed discussion on APR and hopefully hasten the day when it's accepted as a routine option for women who desperately want to undo the effects on the abortion pill and save the lives of their unborn babies.
10,000 women needed hospital care after taking 'at home' abortion pills in Britain ()

More than 10,000 women had to undergo hospital treatment after accessing abortion pills in England between April 2020 and September 2021, according to a new study.

The information was collated following 85 Freedom of Information requests to NHS Trusts. The research points out that 1 in 17 women who had a medical abortion during this period required hospital treatment.

Researcher Kevin Duffy, who compiled the data, said: “This is the disturbing truth of abortion care during the pandemic that has not been reported to the Government by providers”.

“This investigation exposes the reality of what thousands of women experiencing crisis pregnancies have been through during the pandemic. It demonstrates clearly what needs to change and why the government must not make DIY home abortion telemedicine permanent. The time to end it is now well overdue”.

The HSE has admitted that it has not been compiling information on the adverse effects of DIY home abortions in Ireland since telemedicine home abortions were given the green light by the Minister for Health following the Covid outbreak. It is reckless in the extreme the way pro-abortion groups are calling for at home abortions to be sanctioned indefinitely despite the evidence coming to light in other jurisdictions showing how dangerous and detrimental to women’s health DIY home abortions have proven.
