John, Roe v. Wade is in danger.
Just yesterday, the Supreme Court began hearing arguments on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization – a case related to Mississippi’s recent abortion law that bans abortion after 15-weeks of pregnancy and challenges the existence of Roe v. Wade. And the court seems poised to uphold Mississippi’s anti-abortion ban.
This is the first time the court will rule on the constitutionality of a pre-viability abortion in decades. If they allow Mississippi’s anti-abortion ban to stand, it will erase nearly 50 years of precedent, put abortion access at risk across the nation, and, in the words of Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor, create a “stench” in the public perception of the court and its legitimacy.
This is a tragic turn of events, John. But we can’t give up hope. 80% of Americans support legal abortion. And according to a recent ABC/Washington Post poll, 75% of Americans believe that decisions on abortion should be left to a woman and her doctor. So we must keep up the fight for reproductive freedom with everything we have. That’s why I’m proud to stand with reproductive justice advocates in calling for Republicans in Texas and beyond to keep their #BansOffOurBodies. And I want to encourage everyone to post on social media with that hashtag to spread awareness.
My opponent in this race, Henry Cuellar, is one of the last remaining anti-choice Democrats in Congress. That’s a huge part of the reason I’m running in the first place. Defeating Rep. Cuellar is one of the most impactful ways we can turn the tables on anti-choice politics on a national level.
Can you contribute to our campaign today to help us defeat Henry Cuellar? Every contribution will send a clear message that we want politicians in Texas and across this country to keep their #BansOffOurBodies.

Make no mistake: One of the reasons why Donald Trump packed the Supreme Court with anti-abortion judges was for this very reason: to overturn Roe v. Wade.
With Republicans and conservative Democrats like Henry Cuellar taking every opportunity to attack reproductive freedom, we need a progressive in Congress who will fight to codify this Roe v. Wade by passing legislation in Congress to ensure that all people have unfettered access to abortion care and repeal the Hyde Amendment to make abortion more affordable and accessible.
While this is indeed a dark time for abortion rights as we know it, we cannot fall into despair. It’s on all of us to keep up the fight for reproductive justice. I hope you’ll join me in spreading the message on social media to tell politicians to keep their #BansOffOurBodies.
In solidarity,
Jessica Cisneros
