Vietnam needs help to fight wildlife crime

Despite Government efforts to fight illegal wildlife trade, Vietnamese-led criminal networks continue to play a major role in fuelling poaching and the decline of biodiversity in Africa. Our new report Vietnam’s Footprint in Africa acknowledges the encouraging domestic efforts in the past decade to address wildlife crime in Vietnam, but it warns the country’s global reputation continues to be tarnished by its status as the primary destination for illegal wildlife products sourced from across Africa.

We back call to classify nurdles as a hazard

Plastic pellets, aka nurdles, are the building blocks of the plastics industry and in May a ship spilt 1,680 tonnes of them off Sri Lanka, plus other plastics and chemicals. Now EIA is backing Sri Lanka’s call for nurdles to be classified as a hazard.
