John, this is urgent: in just 19 days, Texas is scheduled to execute an innocent man for a rape and murder he did not commit. We need all hands on deck!!!
Rodney Reed has been on death row for 20 years. He’s been convicted for a crime against a white woman by an all white jury, framed by police and prosecutors – with mountains of evidence that exonerates him kept from the jury.
Instead, the evidence implicates the victim’s fiancé – local police officer Jimmy Fennell – who has a history of violence against women.
Listen. I approach these cases with skepticism. I have now studied this case for the past month, and I absolutely believe that Rodney Reed is innocent. I don’t believe he was present during the murder.
So I am dedicating the next 19 days of my life to save this man’s life. I need you to join me. I need as many people as possible to join me.
Governor Abbott has stopped an execution before. He can again. But it’s going to take a huge public outcry.
