Dear MoveOn member,

BREAKING: After half a century, the Supreme Court yesterday appeared
poised to overturn Roe v. Wade and "make sweeping changes to limit
abortion rights in the United States."^1,2

The Supreme Court heard arguments yesterday in a case challenging an
unconstitutional Mississippi law that directly threatens Roe v. Wade. And
it comes amid yet another week in which the Supreme Court is allowing
Texas's baldly unconstitutional six-week abortion ban to remain in effect,
which has forced Texans to travel as far as Maine to protect their freedom
and self determination and obtain an abortion rather than be forced by the
government to give birth.^3

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe, 26 states are certain or likely to ban
legal abortion.^4

Make no mistake: This is the culmination of a decadeslong, massively
funded campaign by the far right to pack the courts with anti-abortion
ideologues. It is a direct result of Mitch McConnell's breaking Senate
rules to ram through the Supreme Court confirmations of Brett Kavanaugh
and Amy Coney Barrett.

To have any hope of ending the right-wing control of the Supreme Court,
restoring the constitutional right to abortion, and building a world where
abortion is not just legal but accessible, we cannot allow Mitch McConnell
to take back control of the Senate. McConnell has already said that he
will not allow a vote on any Biden Supreme Court nominee if Republicans
regain control of the Senate next year.^5 With the Senate currently tied
50-50, the margins couldn't possibly be closer.

Will you donate $5 a month to help stop Mitch McConnell from
retaking the Senate and end the extreme anti-abortion control of the
Supreme Court?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

[ [link removed] ]No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear a case about such a blatantly
unconstitutional abortion ban only after Mitch McConnell abused his power
to give Donald Trump three appointments to the Supreme Court, including
replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg with Amy Coney Barrett as voting for the
2020 election was already underway and before Ginsburg was even buried.

If Roe is overturned, all of us will be impacted, our freedom taken away.
But some will be disproportionately impacted, and that includes low-income
people of color, who can't afford to travel to a state that keeps abortion
legal and accessible, take time off work, or pay the enormous costs of an
out-of-state abortion.

As Justice Harry Blackmun wrote about in his majority opinion in Roe v.
Wade in 1973, the barriers to a decent life are enormous when there is an
unwanted pregnancy; for many, they are insurmountable.^6

MoveOn is working on all fronts to stop this attack on the fundamental
right to bodily autonomy. And keeping Mitch McConnell and the extremist
GOP out of power in the Senate is one of the most important things we can
all do to stop the attack on abortion access from the highest levels. Will
you chip in $5 a month to support and sustain MoveOn's
election campaign?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

[ [link removed] ]No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

We need Congress to act now to pass legislation guaranteeing the right to
abortion in all 50 states. That won't happen until Democrats end the
filibuster. And we must reverse decades of far-right court packing by
replacing anti-reproductive-health ideologues with judges who will uphold
the constitutional right to abortion.

And first and foremost, before any of that can happen, we must elect a
U.S. Senate that supports our health and rights, expand the Democrats'
majority, and stop Mitch McConnell from EVER becoming majority leader
again.

We've launched one of our biggest campaigns ever to stop Mitch McConnell
from taking back the Senate in 2022, and the stakes in this election just
got higher. Will you donate $5 a month to help stop Mitch
McConnell and protect abortion rights?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I'll chip in monthly.

[ [link removed] ]No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.
