Kyle Clark, local news anchor for Denver’s 9 News, recently took a moment to call out Lauren Boebert for her Islamophobic and slanderous insults about Rep. Ilhan Omar. But he also made sure to appropriately criticize the media for its role in creating a narrative context about politics that treats “both sides” as equally to blame for our society’s many problems.

“If we held her to the same standard as every other elected Republican and Democrat in Colorado, we would be here near-nightly chronicling the cruel, false and bigoted things that Boebert says for attention and fundraising.”

Truth-telling in the media should not be a rare moment of courage; it should be the norm. And we should all be united in calling Lauren Boebert out for her casual racism and promotion of right-wing fascism.
