My team was in federal court in NYC this week, leading the coalition of states fighting the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy settlement. This settlement grants the Sackler family a lifetime legal shield for their role fueling the opioid epidemic.
The Sackler family extracted billions of dollars from Purdue and depleted the company's value before Purdue declared bankruptcy. Then they conditioned any contribution from their personal wealth on a legal shield from civil lawsuits — an outcome they could not have achieved had they themselves declared bankruptcy. If this is not an abuse of the bankruptcy process, nothing is.
The Sacklers are not bankrupt — under this settlement they remain one of the wealthiest families in the whole country.
We will continue fighting this abuse of the bankruptcy process and fighting for real accountability for the thousands of families devastated by the Sacklers’ conduct.
I will continue to take on big fights like these and keep you updated as things progress.
Thank you for your support -
Bob
Starting December 11th — less than two weeks from now — Washington state law requires a mandatory “freeze” on all fundraising for state elected officials — including Bob. This freeze begins one month before the state legislative session begins and lasts as long as the legislature is in session. In other words, Bob cannot accept any campaign contributions from December 11th until next Spring. We turn off our donation page after midnight on December 10th, 2021 and return any donations that come in the mail — no exceptions!
Will you support Bob’s campaign by making a contribution right now?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately by clicking a button below. Otherwise, you will be redirected to a donation page.
