Ready to Repeal the Death Tax? Here’s how to get the petition!
We’re excited to tell you that your Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is moving forward with a ballot initiative to Repeal the Death Tax that was added to the state constitution by Prop. 19.
We intend to restore the ability of parents and grandparents to pass property to their children or grandchildren without triggering reassessment to market value and a huge tax increase.
Will you help us?
This initiative will be on the November 2022 ballot if we can collect a million valid signatures of registered voters by the deadline in mid-April. We’re counting on HJTA members to sign the official initiative petition and to collect the signatures of friends and family. If each HJTA member collects just 4 signatures, this measure will qualify for the ballot.
When you click the above link to get the petition, you’ll be able to fill out HJTA’s form to request as many petitions as you need. You’ll also have the option to request a banner and door-hangers, and to let us know if you’d like to be connected to other volunteers in your area. We will mail petitions to you along with complete, easy instructions, plus flyers and imprinted pens so you can help us spread the word about this important campaign.
HJTA will be holding a special webinar about the Repeal the Death Tax initiative on Tuesday, December 7, at 11:00 a.m. We’ll have the latest updates about the campaign and we’ll take your questions.
