Heritage Foundation: Supreme Court Should Correct Grave Error of Roe v. Wade <[link removed]> – Following oral arguments today before the U.S. Supreme Court on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, The Heritage Foundation called for the justices to undo the grave error that is the decision in Roe v. Wade. “Roe v. Wade has poisoned our courts, our culture, and our laws. The Supreme Court now has an opportunity to correct its grave error,” said Heritage President Kevin Roberts <[link removed]>, who took office today. “From the moment of conception, every human being has inherent dignity and worth. Women and their children deserve better options than abortion.” Heritage Experts: Sarah Perry <[link removed]>, Thomas Jipping <[link removed]>, and Melanie Israel <[link removed]>
First case of Omicron COVID variant confirmed in US <[link removed]> – The confirmation that the Omicron variant is present in the U.S. does not justify the imposition of coercive and restrictive measures of dubious value. Lockdowns, mandated vaccines and mask requirements have not been shown to work. New York's Governor, for example, immediately declared a state of emergency, empowering her to halt elective surgeries. This is wrong-headed and certainly not based in science. Instead, people should consult with their doctors and decide for themselves what precautions to take. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk of serious COVID illnesses, regardless of the variant that has infected them. Younger people are at much lower risk. Unvaccinated people should get personalized medical advice from their doctors as to whether to be immunized. The pandemic has been around for nearly two years. People are very much aware of it and can make their own decisions. The government should not usurp this prerogative from citizens. And they should not fall back on old habits at the first sign of the emergence of a new variant. Heritage Expert: Doug Badger <[link removed]>

US, Iran return to nuclear talks after five-month delay <[link removed]> – The Biden Administration is unlikely to negotiate satisfactory terms for Iran’s return to the JCPOA or negotiate a “longer and
stronger” follow on agreement that it admits is necessary to correct the flaws of the JCPOA. 3There is zero cause for optimism for a constructive outcome that serves U.S. interests. What the U.S. will settle for is anybody’s guess. The administration has been all over the map trying to engage with the Iranian. The more concessions the U.S. has made the more aggressive the Iranian regime has become. Heritage Expert: Jim Carafano <[link removed]>

Facebook whistleblower to testify at House hearing <[link removed]> – The real world political ramifications of <[link removed]> Big Tech’s censorship
— at the direction of the White House as admitted by Jen Psaki — “erodes our culture of free speech, chill open discourse, and engender self-censorship. All while the Taliban, the CCP, and Iranian officials spew their bile and genocidal rhetoric on American-owned platforms. A lack of accountability and the ‘sweeping immunity’ conferred on Big Tech by broad interpretations of Section 230 has emboldened these companies to abuse their concentrations of power, constrict the digital lives of ordinary Americans.” Heritage Expert: Kara Frederick  <[link removed]>
Federal Employee Vaccine Mandate Could Result in Thousands of Firings, Here’s What That Means for Government Functions <[link removed]> – In issuing a vaccine mandate <[link removed]> for federal workers, the administration argued that it would create a more efficient civil service, but in reality it will accomplish the opposite. Unless the federal government can meet the same standard required of federal managers—that is, to prove that dismissing unvaccinated federal employees will improve the performance of the federal government (and that no other remedies such as testing options or exemptions for those with natural immunity would accomplish the same goal)—no federal workers should be stripped of their
workplace protections over a personal decision that has nothing to do with their workplace performance. Heritage Expert: Rachel Greszler <[link removed]>
Biden and Xi’s Scripted Summit Was More Talk than
Action <[link removed]> – Many weeks of preparation and
planning went into the virtual summit meeting between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping. But you wouldn’t have known that judging by the outcomes. It’s vital to get the China-U.S. relationship right. Failure to do so could end in a costly war. Viewed from that perspective, the summit really didn’t help. It may well have hurt. Heritage Expert: Brent Sadler <[link removed]>
