Hey John, some pretty bleak news today.

Earlier, the GOP-stacked Supreme Court—remember how they stole not one but TWO seats from Democratic presidents?—signaled that they’re on the verge of overturning Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that guarantees every person’s right to an abortion.

Let’s stop right there for a sec: Abortion is a fundamental right.

No state, judge, politician, or governing body should be allowed to stand in the way of a deeply personal decision between a person and their doctor. Full stop.

My opponent, Scott Franklin, is unfortunately one of those politicians actively working against the right to choose. Earlier this year, he got up in front of the House of Representatives to call for a ban on federal funding for abortion services.

The best and only way we can prevent politicians like Franklin from telling people what they can and can’t do with their bodies is by codifying Roe v. Wade into law. Here’s my promise to you: Once I'm in Congress, I will fight to do just that, protecting every person’s right to choose both on a national level and locally here in Florida.

Last thing I’ll say: This is much, much bigger than politics. People’s lives and health hang in the balance. The very real experiences of pain, suffering, and trauma that have resulted from draconian policies like the one from Mississippi brought before the Supreme Court today should remind us all that political decisions are often life and death for so many.

We have to do better, and we have to speak out. Thanks for standing with me to protect choice.
