This year, Mercy Corps has reached more than 50 million people in more than 40 countries around the world. Every matching gift our supporters make toward this $21,000 Matching Gift Challenge goal can help us create transformative solutions to some of the most urgent crises, including hunger, poverty, and the acute impacts of climate change.

Addressing the root causes of hunger

Like most families in her village, Halima’s family lives hand-to-mouth and relies heavily on agriculture. Climate change has contributed to more frequent and lengthier droughts, making it harder for her family to grow enough food. Mercy Corps helped Halima’s family build sustainable solutions by providing them with millet seeds, cash-for-work to restore farmland, goats, and training. (Niger, 2018)

You’ve probably heard from a lot of organizations over the past week, so I’ll share my opinion on what makes Mercy Corps so special: our team members. For more than two decades, I’ve watched our team of dedicated, driven, and compassionate humanitarians help people like Halima build a more resilient future.

What’s more, 84% of our team members are from the countries where they work. Many of them experience the same challenges as the communities they serve, meaning they’re close to the issues and the solutions.

Wherever you are in the world, you can be close to the solutions too. Your generous support can help us address the immediate and long-term impacts of crises: from delivering food and clean water to helping small business owners, farmers, and families thrive into the future.

Let’s make the most of our $21,000 matching gift opportunity to help more families. Please join the global movement of generosity and make your matching gift today — every dollar counts.

With gratitude,

Craig Redmond
