Homelessness demands attention, urgency, and action — but too often, the full picture of who is being affected can’t be seen.
Communities in the Built for Zero movement are working to change how they see and respond to the issue.
They are committed to knowing everyone experiencing homelessness by name, so no one is left behind in the efforts to drive homelessness to zero.
Rocket Mortgage, a core partner of Built for Zero, showcases these efforts in a national campaign launching this week.
“Homelessness is solvable,” said Mary Scott, who works for the Bakersfield Homeless Center in California. “We just need to fix and repair our system, and we are working towards that.”
Scott, whose community ended chronic homelessness as part of Built for Zero, is featured in a behind-the-scenes video.
“Until we actually make it a personal problem and we look at these people as our neighbors, these are things that are going to be seen as unseen emergencies,” Scott said.
