Folks,

Yesterday, we witnessed a horrific tragedy at Oxford High School in Oakland County. A school shooter fired upon classmates and faculty, killing four people and injuring seven.

My heart breaks for the victims' families and all of the students, faculty, and staff who were scared for their lives. No student should live in fear while going to school for an education, and no parent should fear saying goodbye to their child every morning, not knowing if it could be their last.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

I’m committed to doing everything I can to tackle the gun violence epidemic -- but today, I hope you’ll join me in keeping everyone who was impacted by the Oxford High School shooting in your thoughts.
