Gwynne encourages constituents to register to vote

Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, has encouraged all of his constituents to register to vote ahead of the upcoming General Election.

This week, Parliament voted to hold an early general election on Thursday 12th December. To vote in that General Election, voters must be registered by midnight on Tuesday 26th November.

You can register to vote online via the Government’s website. It usually takes about 5 minutes.

To vote in the General Election you will need to be:

  • 18 or older on Thursday 12th December.
  • A British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen with a permanent UK address.

You can also apply to vote by post. To do this, you’ll need to register to vote before 5pm on Tuesday 26th November.

Andrew Gwynne said:

“Whoever you’ll be voting for in December, make sure you’re registered to vote so that you can have your say on how our country is run.

“It’s a winter election, so it’s likely to be cold and dark, and some may prefer to apply for a postal ballot.”

You can register to vote here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

You can also find out how to register to vote using a paper form at the same address.

Another year, another great Tameside Labour annual conference last weekend. It's always nice for me, Jonathan Reynolds and Angela Rayner to engage with our amazing members at this event, helping to plan the local manifesto for the Council Labour Group and preparing for the upcoming General Election.

It was great to touch base with Charles from the Denton-based international charity Syria Relief. They're doing fantastic work to ensure people in war-torn Syria continue to have access to health and education services.
