John —

Supreme Court justices just heard arguments for Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization today. The Mississippi attorney general is asking the Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, and there are a lot of reasons why I'm terrified that might happen.

Right now, the Court is stacked with conservative justices -- including three hand-picked by former President Donald Trump. If the conservative-leaning court decides to overturn Roe v. Wade in their ruling, it would ban or limit access to a safe and legal abortion in at least 22 states overnight.

Already this year, state legislatures have been chipping away at reproductive rights; conservative lawmakers have enacted over 100 abortion restrictions in 2021 alone. Activists have every right to believe that the Court's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization could be the final blow needed to send reproductive rights back decades. We can't let that happen.

I proudly supported the Women's Health Protection Act to protect a person's right to make their own health care decisions, and to protect a health care provider's right to provide abortion services. Join me today in demanding the Senate defend reproductive rights for all Americans. Will you add your name next to mine today?

The right to an abortion shouldn't come down to the whims of the Supreme Court, a politician, or even the president. It's something that should be discussed between a person and their doctor.

I will continue my 40-year commitment to defending reproductive rights. All people -- no matter how much money they make, the color of their skin, who they love, how they identify, or what their unique health care needs are -- should have access to affordable and comprehensive health care.

In solidarity,

Dwight
