Last month, we launched a coaching program to build new strike leaders: 396 young people across the country who are new to Sunrise are getting in-depth support from Sunrise coaches to plan strikes in their communities on Dec 6th--the next nationwide climate strike in the US.

This coaching program for first-time strike planners can spread the climate strikes to hundreds of new cities--sending a message to politicians that popular demand for the Green New Deal is everywhere, and spreading fast. Sunrisers with experience planning successful strikes have put in hours of work writing detailed guides on everything from recruitment plans, to press strategies, to making impactful art for strike day--all laid out in a week-by-week strike-planning timeline that anyone can follow. And as strike leaders get started, coaches are there every step of the way, available to talk on the phone 7 days a week to check in and give advice.

With this support, hundreds of people who’ve never done this before are planning strikes and even starting new hubs--building new power for our movement in every corner of the country.

This is exactly the rapid growth we need right now to get ready for the coming year, when we’ll face the challenge of turning out our generation to strike and to vote in historic numbers so that we can push the political establishment to start putting the Green New Deal into action.

We’re on the right track--but getting there is gonna take a lot of work. That’s why our coaches are going all-in to make sure that the hundreds of people who want to plan strikes but haven’t done anything like this before have all the support they need to succeed.
