Solidarity Center Podcast: 'I Feel Strong When I See Other Women with Us'
From factory floors to sprawling, informal markets, Nigerian union women are taking action to end gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH) at work, says Rita Goyit at the Nigeria Labor Congress. Speaking on this week's Solidarity Center Podcast, Goyit describes an informal survey of more than 900 women workers that found 57 percent had experienced GBVH at work, and tells how union activists are connecting with women workers to determine the best strategies to end GBVH.
“We’re putting our heads together until we find the solution … because the women are with us. Because I feel strong when I see the other women around me in our campaigns, in the negotiations that we do.” Download this and more episodes at The Solidarity Center Podcast, or wherever you get podcasts. |
