Solar Canopies for EV Chargers
Clifton South P&R
Works have been completed on the solar hubs at Clifton South Park and Ride. This includes the installation of a solar canopy and battery storage alongside 5x twin-headed 7kW and 1x 50kW rapid charging point in the northern car park.
The 7 kW charging points are now operational and can be accessed by a BP Pulse RFID card. Accessing these charging points by app will be enabled in the coming weeks. The 50 kW rapid charging point has some final works to be carried out until it is operational however once it is operational, it can be accessed using a contactless debit/credit card.
The south car park has seen the installation of a solar powered canopy with battery storage above the existing electric vehicle charging points.
These solar hubs will provide the charging points with renewable energy from solar PV panels on the roof of canopies. These solar canopies contain battery storage and can supply power to the charging points

?More on MT award for our Fleet team?
MTA Awards
With the Council?s Parking, Fleet and Transport Operations team winning the Motor Transport 2021 award for Clean Fleet Van Operator of the Year, we thought we?d provide an update on the progress the council has made on decarbonising its fleet of operational vehicles in 2021. ?
The council has been awarded for its fleet electrification strategy which has seen its fleet of electric vans grow to 130. These 130 electric vans mean the councils fleet of vans is now 48% electric, a significant increase from 2016 when the council operated just two electric vehicles (EVs). This electrification process has resulted in 115,000 fewer litres of diesel being combusted per annum and has reduced the yearly amount of CO2 emitted by over 190 tonnes. The council are a leading local authority for fleet electrification and have been the first to introduce compact sweepers, minibuses, cage tippers and OEM electric refuse collection vehicles (eRVCs) in the UK - demonstrating the team?s dedication to fleet electrification across a diverse range of vehicle types.
Nottingham City Council?s pioneering approach to vehicle-to-grid and battery storage has been applauded by the Motor Transport Awards. The launch of the CleanMobilEnergy project will connect 40 of the council?s electric vans to a network of solar PV panels and the national grid using an energy optimisation platform.
