Outpouring of Gratitude From the Bishops for Our Spiritual Bouquet! What's Next?
Dear Prayer Warriors and Faithful Catholics,
As we bid farewell to Thanksgiving, please accept on behalf of Cardinal Burke and myself as well as our entire team at Catholic Action for Faith and Family our deepest gratitude for your ongoing support and for being such an important part of our family.
By now you have probably heard the news of the US Bishops’ Annual Assembly in Baltimore which concluded on Nov. 18.
I was there throughout the proceedings and was privileged to have had some good, strong dialogue with a number of bishops as I presented them with our Spiritual Bouquet.
Each bishop was extremely impressed and grateful for our generous prayer offering. On our website we’ve posted some of their wonderful comments and pictures <[link removed]>of many of our bishop friends and others as they received the Spiritual Bouquet certificate. <[link removed]>
When I announced our prayer initiative <[link removed]>, we intentionally called upon Catholic faithful to join in offering the Spiritual Bouquet; in so doing, we prayerfully asked bishops to avert another McCarrick moment and to clarify Church teaching regarding faithful reception of the Blessed Sacrament.
In addition to the certificate and to make clear our intentions, I handed the bishops a Letter of Presentation from the Directors, Members and Friends of Catholic Action for Faith and Family pertaining to the two primary intentions: 1/ For the spiritual wellbeing of all the bishops, and 2/ That they will confront the challenges facing the Church with steadfast faith and courage in order to make decisions in accord with God’s Will.
One of the glaring challenges weexpected would be a primary focus during the assembly is the long-standing and as-yet-unresolved issue of Catholic politicians who publicly flout the Church’s teaching about the sanctity of human life but who nonetheless continue to receive Holy Communion.
While many of us are disappointed and perhaps distraught over the apparent lack of a desired outcome, we cannot afford to lose heart or resolve. At this time, it is worth heeding the words from Solomon who counseled us saying: “Fools give vent to all their anger; but the wise, biding their time, control it.” (Proverbs 29:11)
That being said, while the assembly has concluded, we at Catholic Action are just getting started! We do NOT intend to drop this issue off on the increasingly slippery road of error and confusion. In fact, when it comes to Catholic Action.
It’s not a question of what if, but what’s next?
Please stay-tuned in the coming days as we will release ─ following much prayer, contemplation, and consultation ─ further statements from our apostolate regarding our analysis of the outcome.
More importantly, we will define a productive path forward over the coming months that will indeed serve as an actionable blueprint for organizing our energies in order to galvanize faithful Catholics. This will guide us as we move forward to next steps in our mission to bring the laity and clergy into ever closer unity to strategically defeat anti-Christian agendas working in society.
In the meantime and in the spirit of thanksgiving, let’s remember the power of Catholic hope as we rejoice and acknowledge the wonderful reception of our Spiritual Bouquet by our bishop friends. See the gallery of photos and comments from our Shepherds. <[link removed]>
Also, we must be careful to recognize without guidance of the Holy Spirit and help of the Lord, “we labor in vain who build.”. So, let’s remain fervent in our prayers as we regroup as Prayer Warriors. I encourage you to continue to storm heaven with your prayers as we prepare the strategy and lay a path forward for Catholic Action in the coming months.
For everything going on in your personal lives as well as the Church we love, let’s remain confident our prayers will be honored before the Throne of God in heaven. Submit Your Intentions now for the December 1st Mass intention and rosary. <[link removed]>
Again, thank you for your generous support throughout the year and for your participation in our Spiritual Bouquet for the bishops.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Thomas J. McKenna
Founder and President of Catholic Action for Faith and Family
