Dear John,
ARC operates on the premise that if everyone visited a prison or jail to hear stories directly from currently incarcerated people who want to return home to their families, we could change hearts and minds about our punitive carceral system. The hopelessness and injustices would become immediately apparent, and we would shift the needle toward a system that treats all people, including those in custody, with more dignity and respect.
Knowing how impactful storytelling can be, I am honored to share "Opening Doors," a video of fellow ARC member Aaron Franklin detailing his journey of family reunification. I encourage you to share it widely. It is deeply inspiring and provides a glimpse of what life can be when you have a support network of people who believe in you and your success.
On this Giving Tuesday, we want to share with you how your Giving Tuesday gift will directly impact ARC’s work and the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated community members we are made of and serve.
Mass incarceration is one of the key issues facing our country today, and with your help, we can continue to transform the criminal legal system so that it is more just and equitable for all people. We accomplish this through our mission to change lives and provide hope, redemption, and opportunities through a support and advocacy network for and by formerly incarcerated people.
Thank you in advance for your support and for fighting alongside us to ensure our communities are safe, healthy, and whole. Happy Giving Tuesday to all!

Sincerely,
Sam Lewis

P.S. Many thanks to BAYCAT Studio and the James Irvine Foundation for their work and funding for this video!
