Breast Cancer Action is unique because we bring together evidence-based scientific expertise and the lived experience of people with breast cancer – who are the subject matter experts – to drive forward the systemic change needed to address and end this health crisis.
Here's how we'll do that in 2022:
Back in June, BCAction was chosen by the California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP) to be the convener for a major research project that aims to understand multi-generational breast cancer risk factors for immigrant communities in the U.S. and California. We began this work in October to ensure that community voices are incorporated into the research process by engaging impacted immigrant communities, stakeholders, and mobilizing our broad network of community organizations.
And, in another project funded by the CBCRP, BCAction is partnering with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) to explore their Industry Documents Library and uncover evidence that shows industries' knowledge about the links between environmental exposures and breast cancer.
For over 30 years we’ve been the watchdog for the breast cancer movement, holding the breast cancer industry accountable. Through projects like these, we will deepen our work as a watchdog by: ensuring that all voices are included in the work to address and end breast cancer, and calling out disinformation tactics from corporations and industries whose products and practices harm our health. Your support is crucial to this new and exciting work.
