Health Advocates,

Please check out Families USA's upcoming events and new resources for your advocacy below!

** Upcoming Events
------------------------------------------------------------

* On December 15^th at 3pm Eastern, we will be hosting a webinar to discuss the findings from the report, an overview of the state and federal policy contraceptive care landscape, and examples of how advocates are working to advance contraceptive equity at the state level. Participants will walk away with ideas to proactively address contraceptive need in their communities. Guest speakers are Tara Mancini from Power to Decide and Lexi White from In Our Own Voice: National Black Women's Reproductive Justice Agenda. You can register for the webinar here: [link removed].

** New Papers/Resources
------------------------------------------------------------

* In Advancing Health Equity Through Improved Access to Patient-Centered Contraceptive Care ([link removed]) , Families USA brings the latest and most relevant patient-centered outcomes research to bear on the issue of patient-centered contraceptive care. We seek to elevate these research findings to help inform state decision-makers who seek to create effective ways to improve contraceptive access, decrease rates of unintended pregnancies, better address personal contraceptive needs and improve women’s overall health. The recommendations offered in this report are focused on both reducing reproductive health inequities and improving health outcomes for women who are disproportionately affected by barriers to contraceptive care.

* As state advocates prepare for the 2022 legislative sessions, a new paper by Families USA, Bright Spots: Highlighting Successful State Policies to Improve Maternal and Child Health Outcomes ([link removed]) , highlights a series of examples of state-level policies that prioritize the health of families by investing in intergenerational approaches. These approaches include increasing access to home visiting services, developing carceral policies that prioritize keeping caregivers and children together, and passing impactful maternal health legislation. By sharing the following state maternal and child health policy bright spots, we hope to spur other states interested in improving maternal and child health to replicate these policy approaches.

Please reach out with any questions you may have, and thank you for your tireless advocacy!

Best,

Kelly Murphy
