One of the reasons I support the Build Back Better Act -- and why I’ve fought so hard to keep provisions like family leave and the ability for Medicare to negotiate drug prices for seniors -- is that I know these kinds of social programs are exactly what we need to create an economy that benefits everyone, not just the ultra-wealthy.

I’ve seen it -- you’ve seen it. The hardest working people I know in New York City do not work on Wall Street, but in small businesses, or in health care, or in utilities, or restaurants, or in any of the other many jobs that keep the city that never sleeps awake.

However, these are the same people who are traditionally left out of our prosperity. Over 90% of stocks are owned by the richest Americans -- so what are the stock market’s booms and busts to the deli worker or bodega owner?

We need programs like affordable education, affordable housing, job training, child care, paid leave, stronger unions, and so much more to help the hardworking people who keep our economy running.

That’s why I’ll never stop fighting for these progressive programs. In the richest country in the world, I cannot allow our hardest working families to continue to struggle.

Thank you so much for your support
