November 20 - December 20 marks Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness
Month.
Every year in the United States, more than 13,000 homicides steal the
lives of brothers, sisters, children, parents, family members, and loved
ones, resulting in more than 130,000 new survivors of homicide victims
annually.
Homicide creates trauma for individuals and entire communities and, too
often, survivors are overlooked; Black, Latinx, and Indigenous survivors
are disproportionately left with little access to support services.
So today, in honor of Giving Tuesday, we’re raising funds for the Louis D.
Brown Peace Institute, a center for healing, teaching, and learning for
families and communities impacted by homicide, trauma, and grief.

of homicide victims?

The pain of a traumatic experience — like the sudden and violent loss of a
loved one — doesn’t go away. That pain lives within individuals and in our
communities for generations.
That’s why Ayanna is so fiercely committed to working for justice and
healing for every person — in the Massachusetts 7th and beyond.
Ayanna has introduced legislation to provide better, more comprehensive
support to children experiencing trauma, and led efforts to provide mental
health resources to survivors of natural disasters and mass violence.
Today, we’re asking for your help — deep healing requires all of
us. Through your support
today, you can help family members and loved ones find healing after
homicide.
