Dear John,

The last two years have clearly revealed that the quest for equity is not linear and our journey to design a nation that works for all is generational. During the most challenging moments, what has given me hope is seeing the work of my colleagues and knowing that, as a team, we will always be able to manifest the grace necessary to do this work and keep equity as our North Star. 

PolicyLink is committed to building a just nation for each and every one of us, which is why we strive to maintain a staff that mirrors the diversity of the nation and brings a culture of creativity, openness, and community. We invite you to get a glimpse of that community. Over the next five weeks, we want to introduce you to the people who make PolicyLink possible. 

You’ll hear from folks like Axel Santana, an Associate working in transportation and water equity and climate resilience. When asked why he has committed to working in equity, he said: “Our work is about using whatever power we have to help others unlock their power.” This is the heart of the equity movement and the mindset that we are proud to invest in and encourage in our community.

As a Black-founded and people of color-led organization centered on racial equity, we are proud of where we come from, and with minds like Axel and others on our team, we are proud of where we are going.
