We reached out to you in 2019 to ask that you comment on a Department of Labor (DOL) rule and commend them for protecting the religious liberty of government contractors. Thankfully, the last administration made that change, but now the Biden administration has announced its intention to undo this rule!

Will you take a moment right now to submit a comment asking the Biden administration to protect religious liberty and not change the rule?

Religious freedom protects the ability to practice and exercise sincerely held religious beliefs in the public square. Faith-based organizations often rely on government contracts to help fund their work helping their community and deserve equal access.

The Supreme Court affirmed this clear First Amendment principle in Trinity Lutheran Church v. Comer. In that case, a church that ran a daycare center was denied access to a government grant program for nonprofit organizations to make their playgrounds safer for children simply because they were a church. The Supreme Court made clear that Trinity Lutheran Church had just as much right to participate in the grant program as any other daycare center.

In order to help ensure that religious organizations are not discriminated against in government contracts, the DOL needs to hear from you today! Legally, your public comment must be reviewed by DOL staff, so your voice will be heard. We have provided a template, but we strongly encourage you to make the comment your own so that the Department will hear and respond to your concerns. (You can add a relevant personal story, and attach articles, op-eds, etc. that you believe are relevant.)

Those desiring to stamp out religious liberty are sure to submit a large number of comments supporting this change. Your voice is urgently needed!
