Dear John,
It’s simple: Writing letters works.
When Amnesty mobilizes people — passionate human rights supporters like you — to
write letters (yes, with a pen and paper, envelope and stamp!), we can change
lives.
Every year, around December 10th (International Human Rights Day), Amnesty
supporters change lives doing this simple act with Write for Rights, the world’s
biggest event for human rights. Sign up now to join Write for Rights this year >>

This year’s Write for Rights campaign is unique because we’re focusing on young people who are taking on some of the world’s biggest crises.
One of the 10 global cases is right here in Canada, of Indigenous youth from Asubpeeschoseewagong (Grassy Narrows ) First Nation who are fighting for justice in the face of 50 years of mercury poisoning in
their community.
Sign up for Write for Rights to help bring international attention and
solidarity to the youth of Grassy Narrows, and all 10 cases.

Last year we sent more than 5.9 million letters, petitions, tweets and solidarity messages from around the world in support of women human rights defenders. In Canada,
thousands of people took part in schools, cafes, homes and concert halls.
Activists who have received our messages tell us that the letters gave them hope to keep fighting for human rights . Geraldine Chacon, an activist, Amnesty member and Write for Rights 2018 case
who was detained for her work in Venezuela, said: “I’ve campaigned for Write for Rights cases before. I never imagined I’d be on
the other side of the campaign. I have no words to thank all that Amnesty has
done for me.”
Join us to take action in support of this year's cases, brave young people like:
* Sarah and Seán , facing prison in Greece for rescuing refugees at sea
* Yasaman , given a 16-year prison term for protesting forced veiling laws in Iran
* Nasu , shot while trying to defend his community from forced evictions in Nigeria
December 10th is the day when Amnesty's collective voice is heard around the
world. Thank you for helping us get even louder this year for young people on the
frontlines of human rights by joining Write for Rights.

P.S. Young people are a leading force for change in our communities, from
calling out climate injustice to calling for women’s rights, from tackling
homelessness to exposing police brutality. Many have stepped in where adults
have failed to lead, and are facing terrible danger as a result. Sign up for Write for Rights today to support them >>
