Team,
The GOP cash advantage in next year’s Senate elections is now 2-to-1.
It’s one reason why the Cook Political Report shifted its forecasts toward Republicans in three key races. And when you take a peek under the hood, you get a disturbing wake-up-call.
Dozens of corporate PACs that said they were pausing donations in the aftermath of January 6th have reopened the spigots. Corporate money is flooding back into Republican coffers as the midterm elections heat up.
Make no mistake: That corporate PAC funding will be used to support the re-election of people who inspired and egged on an insurrection. I guess these corporations believe America is ready to forgive and forget the people who repeated lies and cheered on a mob that wanted to overthrow our democracy.
The only problem with that conclusion is that those elected officials haven’t stopped lying about 2020. In fact, Ron Johnson, our top target in the 2022 midterm elections, is right now trying to push Republican lawmakers to unilaterally take over Wisconsin’s elections, overthrowing a bipartisan commission. (More on that soon...)
They’re only going to get more brazen in their attempts to subvert democracy — the only way to stop them is to, you know, actually stop them. People like Ron Johnson must lose his next election.
I don’t care if corporate PACs are on our side. I’m counting on this team to build the grassroots power to make sure Ron Johnson can’t outrun his shameful behavior — will you chip in before our November budget deadline tonight?
As you can see, this fight is taking on new urgency as we get closer to the 2022 elections. I’m grateful for all you do.
Amy
