Team,

Here's my most immediate fear about American democracy: The coordinated effort to discredit the 2020 election could inspire partisans to overrule the will of the people in 2022 or 2024.

In Wisconsin, that's exactly what's unfolding right now. Believers of the “Big Lie” are trying to take over control of the state's elections.

Elections in Wisconsin are run by the bipartisan Elections Commission. Its record of non-political consensus has been excellent. Believers of the “Big Lie” want to kill the agency - transferring all its duties to the partisan legislature.

It’s critical to our democracy that elections remain neutral and safe. We need to resist the partisan takeover of elections. If you agree, add your name now →

This is a dangerous development - with potential effects well beyond Wisconsin. It could start a chain reaction that would be very difficult to stop.

My aim is to preserve the nonpartisan administration of elections in Minnesota, in Wisconsin, and in every other state.

The stakes are high. The health of American democracy demands that we stay strong by resisting the partisan takeover of elections. Join with me by adding your name now → [link removed]

Thanks,

Steve
