Dear John, This Giving Tuesday donate directly to CJA members who keep the legacy of environmental justice thriving!
Thirty years ago, more than 1,000 people from all over Turtle Island (also known as North America), Puerto Rico, Chile,
and the Marshall Islands gathered at The First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit. This convening profoundly shaped the environmental justice movement. The 1991 Principles of Environmental Justice, which still ground and define the movement, came out of this gathering, and their struggle would later birth the powerful climate justice movement of today. Some CJA members who had, or were formed by, representatives at the Summit include: Indigenous Environmental Network
Just Transition Alliance
Asian Pacific Environmental
Network
Southwest Organizing Project
Farmworker Association of Florida
NAACP
While not all of our members were at the summit, today they are working tirelessly to uphold the principles that were affirmed there, and ensure the movement isn’t compromised by rampant co-optation. This Giving Tuesday donate directly to CJA members who keep the legacy of environmental justice thriving!
With
gratitude, The CJA Team |
