We have spent the year focused on democracy across the globe — and we’re not the only ones. As the Biden Administration prepares to host the Summit for Democracy, CDT is continuing our work to ensure that technology policy is at the center of foreign policy.
To uphold democracy in our digital age, it is critical to protect freedom of expression online. Authoritarian governments around the world are cracking down on online access, blocking social media platforms, and in extreme cases, shutting down internet services completely. We are fighting against this, and urging policymakers and companies to do the same.
Together, we can put civil rights and civil liberties at the center of the digital age.
