|  | The Koch network has manufactured a cycle of outrage surrounding Critical Race Theory, and it is dangerous for us to ignore the role they are playing, as well as their motivations. If successful, the anti-CRT campaign will further the Koch network's agenda to capture and privatize the public school system, endanger academic freedom on campuses, and obstruct the broader movement against structural white supremacy. THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW! Tell your representative that you’ve followed the facts, and the moral panic surrounding CRT is completely manufactured. Let them know that you don’t support any state or federal policies that attempt to ban CRT, as it only feeds into the spread of disinformation and cycle of artificial outrage. | | | NEW REPORT Koch-Funded Center Complicit in Climate Crisis on George Washington University’s Campus |

| Our newest report, “The Regulatory Studies Center: A Stain on the George Washington University Name,” delves into the Koch and ExxonMobil funded RSC, which has repeatedly acted as a front for fossil fuel interests with a history of using GW’s name to provide credibility to climate deniers, fossil fuel cronies, and other discredited backers of pseudoscience. The report, written by UnKoch My Campus Student Organizer and GW student Jake Lowe, highlights a number of instances of climate disinformation and details how the RSC has played a role in promoting a deregulation agenda that benefits its donors. The center almost universally advocates against environmental regulation and relies primarily on researchers with ties to groups funded by the Koch family. The Trump administration acted on many of the center’s polluter-friendly recommendations, such as reducing the costs that the government attributes to greenhouse gases and raising the bar for issuing new energy efficiency standards. |

| | | Celebrating a Climate Campaign Victory! |

| We are celebrating a campaign victory, a year and a half in the making! After launching our YouTube Go Green campaign to “ditch denial dollars,” on Earth Day of 2020, UnKoch My Campus continued to push for YouTube to stop incentivizing climate disinformation on its platform. Finally, last month, YouTube and Google announced that they will be banning ads with climate misinformation. Now, in addition to banning ads promoting climate denial, videos with climate disinformation will no longer be monetized, so that those trying to promote this false information will not be able to earn revenue from it. For us, this is just the first step. Not only do other social media platforms need to join Google and YouTube in removing financial benefits to posting climate disinformation, but all of these outlets need to alert the public when the media includes false information. |
