Dear friend,

Think about the best day of your life. Do you remember what you wore? What you ate for breakfast? When I think back to January 20, 2001, these details come easily. I was at FCI Englewood, where I had been for the last 10 years — not much changed from one day to the next.

But this day would be different. I still remember the feeling when I heard the news, how everything went still: President Clinton had commuted my sentence and I would be going home!

My name is Peter Ninemire. I'm reaching out to ask that you become a Friend of FAMM by making a monthly contribution to their work. http://support.famm.org/site/Donation2?df_id=1681&1681.donation=form1&mfc_pref=T&autologin=true

I would have spent decades in prison if not for how tirelessly FAMM pushed for my release. Instead, I'm a father, justice advocate, clinical social worker, and licensed addictions counselor.

I was convicted on a marijuana charge, but quit using drugs while in prison. After my release, I went to work with FAMM as its Kansas-based regional trainer and organizer. One of the highlights of that role was helping FAMM advocate SB 123, a bill that created alternatives to incarceration for people battling addiction. Now as a social worker, I treat clients who get state-funded support because of this bill. My practice keeps me busy and fulfilled.

I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had, but I can’t forget that there are many incarcerated people who deserve a chance to turn their lives around, too. That's why I've been giving $25 to FAMM every month for the last 10 years.

Will you join me in becoming a Friend of FAMM? Every dollar you contribute brings us closer to a fairer justice system. http://support.famm.org/site/Donation2?df_id=1681&1681.donation=form1&mfc_pref=T&autologin=true

Sincerely,

Peter Ninemire

P.S. If you become a Friend of FAMM today, your gifts will be matched through December! There's no better time than now. Please give so that FAMM has the ongoing support they need to continue advocating reform. http://support.famm.org/site/Donation2?df_id=1681&1681.donation=form1&mfc_pref=T&autologin=true
