Liberal billionaire worries about population loss and demographic decline while lavishly funding the abortion industry
John Arnold, another billionaire who
loves to fund liberal causes, needs to make up his mind. Do we need a larger
population or a smaller population? A few weeks ago, he tweeted, “Net
immigration -70% last year and at 10 year low. Life expectancy has declined 3
years in a row. US birthrate is lowest in 32 years. We're at risk of a death
spiral demographic trend. See Japan and Europe for examples of the long run
economic consequences.” But while he is wringing his hands over declining
demographics, the Soros wannabe is giving millions of dollars to organizations
that either abort the next generation or advocate for it.

Congress can do more to limit federal intrusion into state and local matters
In areas where the federal
government has little business dictating policy to states and localities — those
powers not enumerated to the federal government in the Constitution — Congress
can and should exercise its power of the purse to preempt unnecessary national
regulations by denying funds.
Morrison testimony decapitates quid pro quo claim
Americans for Limited Government
President Rick Manning: "Democratic impeachment claims largely rest on the
concept that there was some kind of quid pro quo on the military funding pause
to Ukraine being released in exchange for an investigation into Joe Biden. Both
the discredited original so-called whistleblower complaint and testimony by
U.S. acting ambassador William Taylor rely on second-hand information as the
source of this charge. Taylor's source was Tim Morrison who testified that he
neither conveyed a quid pro quo to anyone nor heard anything illegal in the
President's conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky. This puts
an end to the false charge that President Trump had anything but a perfectly
legal conversation with Zelensky. Pelosi's impeachment push rests on a
foundation of rumor and lies driven by a fantasy narrative concocted by House
Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff.”
Sean Davis: NSC official Tim Morrison to Schiff said ‘I was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed’ in Trump-Ukraine phone call
“A top National Security Council
(NSC) official who listened to President Donald Trump’s July 25 phone call with
Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky testified to Congress today that he did
not believe Trump had discussed anything illegal during the conversation. ‘I
want to be clear, I was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed,’
former NSC Senior Director for European Affairs Tim Morrison testified today,
according to a record of his remarks obtained by The Federalist. Morrison
testified that Ukrainian officials were not even aware that certain military
funding had been delayed by the Trump administration until late August 2019,
more than a month after the Trump-Zelensky call, casting doubt on allegations
that Trump somehow conveyed an illegal quid pro quo demand during the July 25
call. ‘I have no reason to believe the Ukrainians had any knowledge of the
[military funding] review until August 28, 2019,’ Morrison said.
Liberal billionaire worries about population loss and demographic decline while lavishly funding the abortion industry
By Richard McCarty
John Arnold, another billionaire who loves to fund liberal causes, needs to make up his mind. Do we need a larger population or a smaller population? A few weeks ago, he tweeted, “Net immigration -70% last year and at 10 year low. Life expectancy has declined 3 years in a row. US birthrate is lowest in 32 years. We're at risk of a death spiral demographic trend. See Japan and Europe for examples of the long run economic consequences.” But while he is wringing his hands over declining demographics, the Soros wannabe is giving millions of dollars to organizations that either abort the next generation or advocate for it.
What makes Arnold’s demographic concerns even more interesting is that he is a believer in manmade global warming. According to the global warmers, a declining population is something to celebrate because more humans lead to more carbon dioxide emissions. Of course, maybe Arnold does not really believe in the scam of global warming and only claims to believe in it so he can maintain his status with the liberal elites. Somehow, it is a little difficult to believe that a guy who built his fortune trading natural gas and who tore down a historic, old home and replaced it with a 20,000-square-foot mansion is truly concerned about his “carbon footprint.”
Nonetheless, Arnold is correct to be concerned about our aging population — just as he is correct to be worried about the sustainability of public pension plans, another one of his pet causes. Once an economic powerhouse, Japan does have a very low fertility rate, and its economy has barely grown in the past twenty years. Italy is another example of a country with a low fertility rate and a low rate of economic growth. Obviously, we would be wise to avoid following in their footsteps.
While Arnold’s reasons for taking on particular causes may be unclear, one thing is clear: he and his wife have generously funded the abortion lobby. In fact, in recent years, they have personally given at least $12 million to pro-abortion organizations and may have given in excess of $30 million to these organizations. (The precise total is unclear because they did not report their exact contributions — only that their contributions fell within certain ranges.) These gifts include the following:
The Arnolds no longer disclose even the ranges of donations that they personally give to these reprehensible organizations, but it can reasonably be assumed that their contributions have continued. After all, their organizations have been giving to pro-abortion organizations. For example, the Laura and John Arnold Foundation has been giving $602,027 to the Abortion Care Network over the last couple years, and the Laura and John Arnold Donor Advised Fund is giving $500,000 to the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association.
It is odd that the Arnolds see a need to support the abortion industry given the fact that, relative to the rest of the world, the United States has a high rate of abortion. Over 60 million babies have been aborted since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. Each year, hundreds of thousands of babies are aborted in America adding to the toll. One of the Arnolds’ grantees, Planned Parenthood, is responsible for the deaths of about a third of these children each year.
If John Arnold is really concerned that our population is going to shrink and damage our economy, then he should change his giving habits and not seek to import immigrants from other countries where fertility is declining, too. Specifically, he should stop supporting Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain. Instead, he should redirect those funds to pro-life crisis pregnancy centers that help young and struggling parents choose life for their kids. How is it possible for a brilliant businessman — who has a degree in math — to not figure out that increasing the number of abortions will result in a smaller population?

Morrison testimony decapitates quid pro quo claim
Oct. 31, 2019, Fairfax, Va.—Americans for Limited Government President Rick Manning today issued the following statement in response to testimony by National Security Council Senior Director for European Affairs Tim Morrison that there was no quid pro quo:
"Democratic impeachment claims largely rest on the concept that there was some kind of quid pro quo on the military funding pause to Ukraine being released in exchange for an investigation into Joe Biden. Both the discredited original so-called whistleblower complaint and testimony by U.S. acting ambassador William Taylor rely on second-hand information as the source of this charge. Taylor's source was Tim Morrison who testified that he neither conveyed a quid pro quo to anyone nor heard anything illegal in the President's conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky. This puts an end to the false charge that President Trump had anything but a perfectly legal conversation with Zelensky.
"Pelosi's impeachment push rests on a foundation of rumor and lies driven by a fantasy narrative concocted by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff. It should be remembered Schiff is the one who kept promising high crimes and misdemeanors from the Mueller investigation, only to be debunked by Mueller who found no conspiracy by Trump or his campaign and Russia to hack the DNC or put emails on Wikileaks. Morrison's testimony, combined with Volker and Sondland, eliminate any reasonable belief that there is any legal basis for the impeachment inquiry. Once again, America is a watching a prosecution in search of a crime, which violates the basic standards of American jurisprudence and fairness."

ALG Editor’s Note: In the following featured report from the Federalist co-founder Sean Davis, a top National Security Council official, Tim Morrison, has destroyed the narrative there was an quid pro quo by President Donald Trump in Ukraine:
NSC official Tim Morrison to Schiff said ‘I was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed’ in Trump-Ukraine phone call
A top National Security Council (NSC) official who listened to President Donald Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky testified to Congress today that he did not believe Trump had discussed anything illegal during the conversation.
“I want to be clear, I was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed,” former NSC Senior Director for European Affairs Tim Morrison testified today, according to a record of his remarks obtained by The Federalist.
Morrison testified that Ukrainian officials were not even aware that certain military funding had been delayed by the Trump administration until late August 2019, more than a month after the Trump-Zelensky call, casting doubt on allegations that Trump somehow conveyed an illegal quid pro quo demand during the July 25 call.
“I have no reason to believe the Ukrainians had any knowledge of the [military funding] review until August 28, 2019,” Morrison said. That is the same day that Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the chief anti-Trump inquisitor in the U.S. House of Representatives, disclosed on Twitter that funding had been held up. Politico also published a story that day, sourced to anonymous leaks, that military funding had been temporarily held up.
Although Schiff claimed that neither he nor his staff ever spoke to the anti-Trump whistleblower, The New York Times reported that the complainant, whom RealClearInvestigations identified as Eric Ciaramella, coordinated with Schiff’s office before filing his complaint with the intelligence community inspector general on August 12. While Schiff initially demanded that the anti-Trump complainant be allowed to publicly testify, he quickly changed course following the reports that he and his staff had secretly colluded with the whistleblower and then lied about the interactions.
Morrison also pointed out key factual inaccuracies in testimony provided by William Taylor, a State Department official who works in the U.S. embassy in Kiev, Ukraine. Morrison said that, contrary to Taylor’s claims, Morrison never met with the Ukrainian National Security advisor in his private hotel room.
Morrison also said Taylor falsely claimed that Ambassador Gordon Sondland demanded a public statement from the Ukrainian president committing to investigate Burisma, a controversial Ukrainain energy company that paid Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son Hunter millions of dollars to sit on its board.
“My recollection is that Ambassador Sondland’s proposal to [Ukrainian National Security Advisor Andriy] Yermak was that it could be sufficient if the new Ukrainian prosecutor general — not President Zelensky — would commit to pursue the Burisma investigation,” Morrison testified.
Morrison testified that the transcript of the phone call that was declassified and released by Trump in late September “accurately and completely reflects the substance of the call,” and that he was concerned that the substance of the call would be leaked to the media. Morrison said he immediately informed a NSC lawyer about his concerns that the phone call would be leaked. Democrats have alleged that security measures taken to prevent leaks of the top secret call transcript prove that Trump should be removed from office.
He also told lawmakers that the national security process worked as designed in the case of the military funding that Congress appropriated for Ukraine.
“I am pleased our process gave the president the confidence he needed to approve the release of the security sector assistance,” he said. “I am proud of what I have been able, in some small way, to help the Trump administration accomplish.”
Democrats on Thursday morning voted to rubber-stamp Schiff’s efforts to impeach Trump with secret hearings and lopsided rules that prevent Republicans from subpoenaing witnesses or evidence without first obtaining Schiff’s permission. A bipartisan coalition of Democrats and Republicans opposed the measure.
