Dear Reader,

Today is Giving Tuesday, one of the biggest charitable giving days of the entire year. With so many people choosing to help make a difference in the world through their gifts, I find it an especially inspiring day. At PublicSource, we tell stories that help make Pittsburgh better, and we’re asking for you to help make more of them possible.

We’re 30% percent of the way to our $35,000 goal, but we need help from our readers to make it the rest of the way. Now is a phenomenal time to give: one-time donations are DOUBLED, and new recurring gifts are matched x12, all up to a maximum of $1,000.

Your MATCHED gift can do so much, including:

• Give our reporters time to research. A single story can take weeks or even months to produce as our team digs for information and lays out the context you need to understand what’s happening.

• Support our fact-checking. Unlike many other news sources, every single line of our in-depth stories goes through our fact-check process. If it matters to you that your news is verified, we’ve got you covered.

• Help us reach people in our community who need these stories — and whose stories we need to hear. We’re stepping up our audience outreach because equity can’t happen without equitable access to information.

• Hold public figures and powerful interests accountable. If decisions affect residents in our region, you have the right to know about them. That’s why we track and report on development, money and power in our region.

• Grow the next generation of journalists. Our internship program offers emerging journalists expert one-on-one mentoring, hands-on experience and a stipend for their work.

• Provide an independent perspective. Our nonprofit journalism isn’t beholden to a private owner or making decisions in the interest of turning a profit.
