Dear friends,

America's students have returned to in-person instruction and the goal of school safety is more important than ever. On this Giving Tuesday, please consider sending in a donation to Stand with Parkland - The National Association of Families for Safe Schools so we can amplify your voice to advocate for improvements that keep students and staff safe at school.

In 2018, Stand with Parkland – The National Association of Families for Safe Schools was founded by families who tragically lost their children and spouses in the Parkland school massacre. We decided that enough is enough – we must work together to end attacks on our nation’s schools and to ensure schools are safe places for growth and learning.

Since then, we have used a uniquely inclusive and nonpartisan approach to advocate for school safety enhancements, mental health screening and support programs, and responsible firearms ownership. And with the support of families around the country, we’ve been able to work with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle at all levels of government. Because violence in our schools is not a Democrat problem or a Republican problem – it is an American problem.

Our efforts have yielded results, and we have seen practical steps taken toward safety in schools across the country. Here are a few highlights:

  • In July, SB 590 - School Safety became law. We successfully advocated for a provision establishing a parental right to timely notification of threats to or significant emergencies on school grounds, on school transportation, or during school-sponsored activities, ensuring that parents will have the information that we did not.
  • In a continuation of our partnership with the U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC), we helped introduce the 2021 Averting Targeted School Violence report, which focuses on schools using behavioral threat assessment techniques to get students the help they need before they turn to violence.
  • We met with members of Congress to advocate for the EAGLES Act, which is named for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mascot and would fund the National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) through 2023 and allow it to continue its groundbreaking work to prevent mass attacks.
  • And more! Click here to learn more about our accomplishments.

Friends, none of this work would have been possible without your support. We take our grief and stories of unimaginable loss and turn that into action to help your family avoid a similar fate. That’s why we’re asking for your contribution to help make a difference in the lives of students, teachers, and families around the country. The safety and security of our nation’s schools is something we must work on together – will you support our mission by donating today?
