------------------------------------------------------------

You’ve given thanks. You’ve done some shopping. Now it’s time to give back.

Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving where we are asked to support the causes we believe in. This day harnesses the collective power of individuals to celebrate generosity and support the many who are in need.

We hope you’ll give generously ([link removed]) to USCRI on Giving Tuesday. Your gift will make a difference in advancing the rights and lives of those who are forcibly or voluntarily uprooted. Join us in welcoming the thousands of Afghan refugees who have been – and will continue to be – resettled in the coming months, and help us provide essential resources – like employment, legal assistance, and healthcare, to new Americans.

Throughout our 110-year history, we have been immensely grateful to our supporters for answering the call to help refugees and immigrants time and (time) again. Individuals like John from North Carolina, featured in the story below, have stepped up to help our new neighbors lead a life of dignity.

Meet John, owner of John’s Bicycle Repair Shop. After a client from the North Carolina field office was constantly late to work due to unreliable means of transportation, our USCRI volunteers went to work to find him a bicycle he could ride to his job, and with a call to the USCRI support and volunteer network, a donor came forward with a pre-owned bike. The donation needed some maintenance work, and that’s where John came in.

After our volunteers picked up the bike from the donor, they reached out to John’s Bicycle Repair Shop to request a tune up to make sure the bike was safe and road ready. When John got the call, he dropped everything else he was working on so the client could receive his bike that very afternoon. John happens to be an immigrant from Honduras and is a fierce advocate for refugees and immigrants, often providing them with his repair services at no cost. “Helping another human being is very exciting when you know that they’re in need and you hear they came as refugees. That inspires me a lot” said John to our USCRI staff.

Because of the generosity and dedication of the community, our client is able to get to work on time and can pursue his dream of bringing his family to the U.S. and eventually buying a car. After receiving his donation, he expressed his thanks to everyone involved in getting him the bike. He said to his USCRI case manager, “I have gratitude for the donation and for the great work you do”.

Join our giving community and help provide the vital resources refugees need to move forward into a safe and productive future. Your support will ensure they have a helping hand and a team of caring professionals by their side as they build a new life.

Please remember John – and all the other volunteers and donors who give so much – and donate today! ([link removed])

Together, we can make a difference this Giving Tuesday.
