IDF Chief Warns ‘Precarious’ Security Situation Could Lead to Conflict
Last week, the Israel Defense Forces’ Chief of Staff confirmed that the Jewish state is facing threats on both its northern and southern borders. Last Thursday, IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi warned that Israel is facing a "tense and precarious" threat of conflict, forcing the military to rapidly prepare for war. “The main strategic threat to the State of Israel lies in the northern arena: with the entrenchment of Iranian and other forces in Syria, and with [the Hezbollah terror group’s] precision missile project,” Kochavi said. Protests in Iraq and Lebanon Pose a Challenge to Iran
Yesterday, the day after anti-government protests erupted in Iraq, Iranian Gen. Qassim Soleimani flew into Baghdad late at night and took a helicopter to the heavily fortified Green Zone, where he surprised a group of top security officials by chairing a meeting in place of the prime minister. The arrival of Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force and the architect of its regional security apparatus, signaled Tehran’s concern over the protests, which had erupted across Iraq and Lebanon, and included calls for Iran to stop meddling in the country. The protests threaten Iran’s regional influence. Iran is the leading sponsor of terrorism and the regime’s regional aggression and support for terrorism is a central obstacle to peace and stability in the Middle
East.

Israeli Solution Prevents Bridge and Tunnel Disasters
Dynamic Israeli infrastructure is helping stakeholders in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Greece and Israel assure the safety of aging transportation structures. In the past couple of years, collapsed bridges have killed people in Florida, China, Chile, Italy, Myanmar and Taiwan. People responsible for the health of bridges, tunnels and elevated highways can now see a real-time, cloud-based, 3D “medical report” thanks to technology invented at Israeli startup Dynamic Infrastructure. Working to make bridges safer and save lives, the startup has 12 full-time employees and an advisory board that includes a former U.S. Department of Transportation executive. It has research collaborations with several academic institutes.
