Friend, when a woman in labor is rushed into an operating room for an emergency C-section, it is always tense, even in peaceful circumstances. But imagine having a complicated birth amid one of the most violent and deadly conflicts in the world.
Such is the case at the Al-Qanawis hospital in Hodeidah, in northwestern Yemen. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) medical staff are often putting their own safety at risk to deliver care there—and today, they need your support.
MSF has been supporting this mother and child hospital in Yemen since December 2020. On average every month, our teams assist more than 450 deliveries and admit more than 100 newborn babies to the hospital.
Since war broke out in Yemen in 2015, Hodeidah has been one of the most active conflict zones in the country. Maternal and child health needs in the region are high—years of war have severely damaged the health system and limited access to basic medical services.
We absolutely could not do this work without supporters like you. So on behalf of our patients and staff in more than 70 countries, thank you for caring, Friend. And thank you for giving.
P.S. If your Giving Week gift and our email have crossed paths, we sincerely thank you for your generosity!
--- All gifts given, up to $307,000, will be doubled through 11:59 PM EST on 11/30. Every dollar you give will be matched with $1. Gifts received after the match has been met will not be matched but will be used where needed most.
