More evidence, less poverty

John,

As we head into #GivingTuesday—a day that symbolizes radical generosity of all kinds—I want to share some of the ways IPA's research has translated into better programs and policies in 2021. Last year:

In Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan, we supported our partners to scale-up a mask distribution and promotion campaign

called the NORM model to more than 100 million people, based on findings from an IPA study. This was likely our biggest impact ever (and definitely the quickest mobilization to use evidence to save lives that we have ever seen).

In Colombia, our work informed the government's national economic recovery strategy, which includes approximately US $37.5 billion in investment in the Colombian economy.

In Rwanda, our work strengthened the Rwanda Education Board's distance learning program during school closures.

In the Philippines, IPA’s RECOVR results and the Teacher Needs Assessment

informed both the distance learning policies and the national emergency subsidy and cash transfer programs (the Social Amelioration Program).

Every year on this day, I reflect on the generosity of so many of you who support IPA’s mission and help us achieve impacts like these, as well as our staff, partners, and the researchers we work with.

But there is still so much to do—please consider extending your generosity to IPA this year. Your support enables us to generate more evidence on what works and get that evidence used to improve lives. We will make every dollar count.
