Happy #GivingTuesday!
Today, we’re celebrating the power of collective generosity and dreaming of what’s possible when we all come together to inspire meaningful change. The Poynter Institute is one of the thousands of nonprofit organizations around the world participating in this 24-hour movement.
We invite people like you who value honest, independent reporting to join us in our mission to transform communities through support of quality journalism for all. When we have access to fact-based information and trustworthy sources, we can make important decisions and take meaningful action in our everyday lives.
Here’s how you can help:
1. Share why journalism is important to you and your hometown. Complete this sentence and use #GetToThePoynt on Twitter: Journalism gives communities _______.
2. Forward this email to a friend or colleague who would benefit from one of our training opportunities below.
3. Make a contribution of $25, $50 or $100 to Poynter today and help us get to what’s possible tomorrow. Together, we can #GetToThePoynt. Give today ([link removed]) .
For me, journalism gives communities inspiration. Reading Lane DeGregory's stories in the Tampa Bay Times growing up in Palm Harbor, Florida set me on the path that led to Poynter. #GetToThePoynt

Table Stakes: Poynter’s Local News Innovation Program
Online and in-person: January-November, 2022
"It's been more than two years since our newsroom joined the Table Stakes program, and we're still benefiting from its teachings — and the work we set in motion on Vermont Public Radio's people-powered podcast, Brave Little State," said Angela Evancie, director of engagement journalism at Vermont Public Radio and Poynter grad.
"From iterative, 'design-do' experimentation to change management to cross-departmental collaboration, Table Stakes showed us how to break down otherwise daunting work into manageable strategies and tactics. If you're a news leader looking for space to think big, build relationships and learn a framework for undertaking ambitious, innovative work, I'd highly recommend this program."
The Poynter Table Stakes program is open to all local U.S. newspapers, public radio stations and digital news organizations. To be considered for this program, senior leaders in each organization must commit to full participation in the project.
Cost: $500-$6,500, based on newsroom size. Apply by tomorrow, Dec. 1, 2021.
