This year, MassKids continued to make great strides to prevent child sexual abuse through our Enough Abuse Campaign. We developed and disseminated new prevention resources, including our online Enough! training course that has been adopted in 120 schools for over 8,000 school employees. Our model Code of Conduct for schools has been hailed by an eminent researcher as “a breakthrough" for the field. We organized Citizens to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse to push for passage of a set of bills that would address educator sexual misconduct and abuse in Massachusetts schools and youth organizations.
In June, we released “A Call to Action for Policymakers and Advocates,” a unique resource that tracks child sexual abuse prevention legislation in every state and recommends specific provisions to ensure that laws are comprehensive and effective. In collaboration with Prevent Child Abuse America and the National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse, this month we delivered a 3-part National Webinar Series and created a companion Strategy Guide for advocates working to pass these crucial laws.
