You may remember me, John. I'm Madiha Raza, the IRC's senior communications officer for Yemen and several other crisis areas. I'm reaching out to you, one of our compassionate supporters, because it's Giving Tuesday — and more importantly, because the updates I have been receiving from our teams on the ground are deeply troubling.
Yemen is the world's worst humanitarian crisis. More than six years of violent conflict have displaced more than 1 in 10 people, decimated the medical system and caused the prices of staple foods like rice to skyrocket.
Right now, our teams in Yemen are reporting staggering rates of child malnutrition. 2.3 million children under five years old are suffering from acute malnutrition — some of the highest rates we've seen since the start of the armed conflict — and 400,000 children could die without immediate intervention.
I've met some of these families and seen firsthand how painful it is for parents to watch their children suffer. Like all parents, they want their children to be safe and healthy. That's why I'm asking for your urgent help today.
The need for humanitarian aid in Yemen is tremendous, and we're counting on the support of IRC community members like you to meet this critical moment. Rush your Giving Tuesday donation now to make 2X the impact for children and families in crisis: |
