Our goal for this year's challenge

For this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge we want to secure a brighter future for 25 marginalised women in Ethiopia through skills training and work placements.

When women earn an income, they can take their future into their own hands. Reducing the risk of poverty and violence. But right now in Ethiopia, young women are TWICE as likely to be unemployed than men.

This is an opportunity for 25 young women who face multiple barriers to education and employment (even more so if they also have a disability) to get a start in life that will support themselves and their families for years to come.

Womankind partners the Center for African Women Economic Empowerment (CAWEE) have a long history of finding women at most risk of poverty and empowering them with marketable skills training. With CAWEE’s support, a woman’s life can be transformed in just a few short months. From enduring unemployment to a promising career in one of Ethiopia’s most thriving industries.
