John,

Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving back. And I'm reaching out because while the challenges we face are especially large this year, so too is the impact your generosity can make. Your gift this Giving Tuesday will be matched to make 2X the difference for the families we serve in crisis zones around the world. Rush your Giving Tuesday donation now:

I cannot overstate the urgency of this moment and the impact that your support can have for the people we serve.

These past few months have been some of the toughest since I joined the IRC. The crisis in Afghanistan forced more than 681,000 people to flee their homes this year alone, and left millions without enough food to eat or clean water to drink. The people of Afghanistan — and especially women and girls — continue to fear for their lives. So many people face extreme uncertainty about their future.

Right now, there are 23 million Afghans — more than half the population — who are up against the threat of famine. And 1 million children are at risk of dying from starvation without urgent assistance. These facts are horrifying, and the threat to children’s lives is very real and must be addressed immediately.

Our dedicated IRC staff members are doing everything they can to support families facing such desperation, but they can't do it alone.

With winter on the way, the situation is only expected to get worse. That's why I'm asking you, one of our most passionate supporters, to rush an urgent donation to support our critical work in Afghanistan and other crisis-affected places. Today, your gift will be matched to make 2X the impact.

With your help, the IRC can ramp up our response and continue our critical work supporting 62 health clinics across Afghanistan where nearly all of our clients have been women bringing malnourished children for urgent help. We are especially concerned by the number of children presenting with severe acute malnutrition. But right now, 60% of the clinics we assessed do not have the capacity and resources to deliver the nutrition programming that people so desperately need. You can help, John, in Afghanistan and other crisis zones. Please donate now to have your gift matched 2X.

Afghanistan is far from the only place where we are seeing troubling numbers of malnourished children. In Yemen, for example, the rate of malnutrition among children under 5 is at an all-time high. There, the IRC provides lifesaving treatment for acute malnutrition and operates mobile medical clinics to reach children in need no matter where they are.

Our devoted teams are working tirelessly to ensure that children and families in crisis can access the vital treatment and resources they need — but we can't do that without the help of supporters like you.

John, rush your Giving Tuesday donation now to make 2X the difference for children and families in need:

These are challenging times, and I know sometimes the obstacles we face can seem larger than life. But thanks to you, we are able to continue delivering critical humanitarian aid when and where it's most needed.

Our clients, our staff, and I are so deeply grateful for your compassionate support, today and every day.
