Dear Friend,
Today is Giving Tuesday! Consider making a gift to Peace Over Violence in honor of fifty years of social change, social service, and social justice.
Before 1970 if you or a loved one were sexually assaulted or a victim of domestic violence, there was nowhere to turn. Domestic violence was accepted as normal and sexual violence was viewed as inevitable. In 1971, a group of pioneering feminists in Los Angeles organized the first hotline in the country --- that was us! At the same time, across the United States, a movement to end violence against women was born.
This year’s year end campaign is all about celebrating our fifty year history. Stay tuned; all month we’ll be highlighting our accomplishments throughout the last five decades. Support us today and help us continue for years to come!
We know survivors’ greatest need during times of crisis is direct cash assistance. Fifteen percent of all money raised during this year-end campaign will go to our Survivors Direct Assistance Fund, distributed to survivors in the Los Angeles area.
